Glenn L. Sawyer Sr.

Virginia Beach - Glenn Lee Sawyer Sr, of Virginia Beach died on February 26 at the age of 89.

Born in Elizabeth City, NC, he spent most of his life in Norfolk and Virginia Beach. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church for over 60 years. He was a World War II veteran who served in the Battle of The Buldge and received the Purple Heart metal. As a young boy his first job was working in a department store in the display department where he built backdrops. This led to his career as a general contractor in commercial and residential construction throughout the area.

He is survived by his wife Shirley of 70 years, his son Glenn Lee Sawyer Jr., 3 granddaughters: Stefanie Ridenhour & husband Barry, Lesley Peralta & husband Jerry, Natalie Heim & husband Daniel, and 7 great grandchildren: Maizie, Shayla, Harley, Austin, Andrew, William, & Gwendolyn.

Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, March 1st at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel with a graveside service to follow immediately at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
