Norfolk - Silvader "YaYa" Pittman, 67, was ushered into the arms of her Lord and Savior on March 4, 2014 surrounded by her loving and devoted children. She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Showers II., parents; Clayton and Mary Lou Pittman; brother, Clayton Pittman Jr., and sister, Barbara Ann Pittman. Mahatma Gandhi once said, "A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks he becomes". Silvader thought to become a "Mother Personified." She became the devoted mother not only to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren but also too many of their friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory, six devoted children, Renee Showers, Georgette Showers, George A. Showers, III ., Edward "Curly" Pittman, Leonard Pittman and Ladjuana Pittman; 19 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 maternal aunt, 3 nieces, 2 nephews and a host of cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1-5 p.m on Sunday, March 9 at Metropolitan Funeral Service - 7246 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA. A Homegoing Celebration of Silvaders' life will be held Monday, March 10th 12:00 noon at New Central Baptist Church 700 Walker Avenue (Pastor Yvonn Hardy) with interment to follow at Roosevelt Memorial Park.
