Donald Leigh Corey

Norfolk - Donald Leigh Corey passed away on March 9, 2014. He was 82 years old and was born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was the son of the late Leonard I. Cohen and Freeda Levy Cohen. Donald graduated from Wilson High School in Portsmouth and the University of Virginia. He worked in the contact lens industry for over 30 years as President of Conforma Laboratories and an Administrator with Amsco-Lombart Lenses. He was also on the Board of CLMA (Contact Lens Manufacturing Association). He was well known and respected in his field. He was a member of Ohef Sholom Temple.

Don is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Charlotte Cooper Corey, son, Dr. Mitchell L. Corey of Norfolk, daughter, Faith Fuhrman and her husband, Ben Atkinson, his grandchildren, Jay Fuhrman, Erica Fuhrman and Annie Fuhrman, all of Annandale, NJ. He is also survived by many cousins and friends and extended family.

We wish to thank Bon Secours Hospice staff for their wonderful expertise in caring for Donald and their kindness to him in so many ways. We also wish to thank Gwen Brooks and Melissa Applewhite of Jewish Family Service for their help and kindness as well and the Jewish Family Service in general. All truly dedicated people.

A graveside service will be held in Forest Lawn Cemetery , Friday, March 14, at 12 p.m. Rabbi Rosalin Mandelberg will officiate. The family will receive friends after that service at their home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Ohef Sholom Temple, Bon Secours Hospice or Jewish Family Services of Tidewater.
