Walter C. Rudy

Norfolk - Walter C. Rudy better known as "Walt", 93, and a resident of Norfolk, passed away on March 24, 2014. Born in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Robert and Viola Rudy, he grew up in Waycross, Georgia. Walt worked for 35 years as a printing specialist for Naval Publications and Printing in Norfolk, Va. Walt was a member of Norview Masonic Lodge #113 and a five time Past Worthy Patron of the Norview Chapter Eastern Star #131. Walt is preceded in death by his loving wife Ruth of 64 years. He is survived by his son, David Rudy and his wife Anita; a daughter, Diana Rudy Riley; a brother, Lester "Gene" Rudy; grandchildren, Lauren and Blake Riley, Mike and Mark Rudy, plus five grand-dogs. Walt will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend; his kindness and generosity as well as his humor. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. A visitation will be held Friday March 28, from 11 to 1 p.m. at the Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502 with a funeral service starting at 1 p.m. Burial will take place on Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m. in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dodge-Powell Scholarship Fund, 1123 Hugo St., Norfolk, Va. 23513. Condolences may be offered to the family at
