Marjorie H. Powers Obituary
Marjorie H. Powers

Virginia Beach - Marjorie Hayes Powers, 89, of Norfolk, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 25, 2014 at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on August 7, 1924 in Kinston, NC to the late Leta Hayes. She will join her late son Robert Earl Powers and sister Beatrice Pennington. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Norman P. Powers; her daughter, Cynthia Powers Winslow and her husband Woody Winslow of Charlotte, NC and their children, Katie, Laura, and Maggie Winslow and Annie Winslow Kimball and her husband John Kimball; her son, N. Preston Powers Jr. and his wife Deborah Hoover Powers, of Virginia Beach, VA and their children Wesley and Jacob Powers; Roberts wife, Toni Powers of Hurlock, MD and their child Robbie Powers and one great grandchild Cassie Powers. As well as many nieces and nephews.

Marjorie's main goal in life was to be a wonderful mother and wife, to serve her country, and to serve and teach the word of The Lord. She did so by volunteering to teach Sunday school, lead women's church programs, serving as a chaplain and sang in the choir. She was an active mother and leader through Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. Marjorie spent most of her free time with her family boating, and especially enjoyed crabbing, fishing, or being on the beach with her children.

She was a well loved woman by many and will be missed greatly.

There will be a private graveside service for family followed by a memorial service welcome to all at Kempsville Presbyterian Church at 2:30 p.m. A reception in the fellowship hall will follow the memorial service. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.smithandwilliamskempsville.com.
