Theodore Joseph Perrone

Virginia Beach - Theodore Joseph Perrone was called home on April 18. A local icon amongst the restaurant community. Teddy was born on July 9, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Anna (Castellano) of NYC and Michael Perrone, from Naples, Italy, he was the apple of their eye. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Shirley Perrone, as well as his sisters, Josie, Marie and Rosie and his two brother in laws, Edmondo Santo and Louis Marullo. Teddy, or more affectionately known as Poppy for the last 23 Years, opened his first Italian restaurant, La Casa, on the east side of Brooklyn at 17 years of age, this is where he would meet the love of his life, Shirley Katz. He was a self-taught chef who went on to win several prestigious awards in the restaurant industry. He was a partner in both Caesars, and Pompis in Virginia Beach, and went on to own and operate Teddy's Ristorante with his wife, Shirley, and then Cafe Milano, after her death in 2003. He is survived by his adoring daughter, Randi, her husband Gary Kerfoot, granddaughters, Morgan Giger and her husband Brody, Tyler, Madison and Raegan Kerfoot, great grandson Hudson, his son Michael, and grandson Joseph Spencer, and many loving cousins and longtime friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel. A chapel service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 23rd at 1 p.m. Online condolences may be made to the family at
