Irene R. Haga|
Norfolk - Irene R. Haga, 87 entered into eternal rest on April 23, 2014. She was born on July 4, 1926 in Smyth County, VA, the daughter of Harlow and Ada Reedy. She married Ernest W. "Buck" Haga on May 10, 1951. They made their home in Norfolk from then until 1977 when they retired to Marion. She returned to Norfolk in May 1991 after her husband's death the previous year.
She was a member of Norview Baptist Church and was active with the Five Pointers group. Until her sight became an issue she was an avid reader. She volunteered for over 15 years with the
after she returned to Norfolk in 1991.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Barbara Haga, her son and his wife, Alan and Martha Haga and their children Jay, Rachel, and Josh. She is also survived by two sisters who were very dear to her, Helen Sturgill of Culpeper, VA, and Edna Ernest of Marion, VA. She will be remembered by 19 nieces and nephews. She was lovingly cared for by Ginny Gibbs Lawson and several other caregivers over the past two and a half years.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Her body will be transported to Marion, VA where there will be visitation on Sunday, April 28th at Seaver Brown Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. and a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 28 at Slemp Cemetery in Sugar Grove, VA.
