Frances A. Martin

Chesapeake - Frances Adams Martin, 92, passed away on May 9, 2014. She was born in Wheeling, WV, and was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Samuel and Minnie Della Trevethan Adams; and her husband, Henry Cletus Martin. Frances was a 1940 graduate from Deep Creek High School, where she was active in basketball, softball, orchestra, and the dramatics club. She was a Brownie Scout Leader for six years; and worked as a telephone operator until she married Henry C. Martin in 1942. Henry and Frances lived for many years in Portsmouth, VA before moving to Sun City, AZ where they lived for 25 years. Following Henry's death, Frances moved back to VA.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Ellen Martin Speirs (Thomas) of Sandy, UT and Belinda Sue Martin Berry (Walter) of Chesapeake, VA; her grandchildren, Jeremy Coccimiglio (Nancy), Anthony Coccimiglio (Jennifer), Adam Coccimiglio (Tiffany), Nathan Coccimiglio (Sydnee), John Berry (Lori), Catherine Parks (Stephen), Sarah Bailey (Justin); her great-grandchildren, Abigail, Seth, Zachary, Christopher, Danielle, Gates, Michael, Tate, Marlee, Gabriella, Joseph, and Oakley. Frances will be missed by many relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, May 14, 2014 in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM. Entombment will be private in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
