Roland L. Toffton

Norfolk - Roland Lee Toffton passed away at his home on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at the age of 85. Roland served in the United States Air Force as a crash, fire and rescue crewman. In 1950 he entered the Norfolk Fire Department where he served for 30 years before retiring as a Captain.

Roland is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nelle Morgan Toffton; his daughter Kathy Toffton Waggoner of Pensacola, Fla.; his son Thomas Toffton of Norfolk, and his daughter Patricia Toffton Howlett of Chesapeake; his granddaughters Kendall Watson of Crawfordville, Fla., Kelsey Howlett of Chesapeake, Alexis Howlett of Chesapeake, son-in-laws Ronald Waggoner and Harvey Howlett.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Shields Toffton; father Charles Albert Toffton; sister Helen Toffton Capps; brothers Richard Toffton, Howard Toffton, Milton Toffton, and Albert Toffton.

The family will be at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel on Wednesday, May 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. where a Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 29, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
