Portsmouth - On Wednesday, June 25, 2014, heaven called for its angel, Bernice "BB" Bond Williams. The first of three children, Bernice was born on November 14, 1939 in Windsor, NC to the late Thomas Ray and Elsie O. Bond. She relocated to Portsmouth, VA and later graduated from Our Lady of Victory Catholic School. She was married to Aurthor C. Williams for 55 years.
Bernice retired after 30 years of service as a Material Handler Work Leader from the Naval Supply Center. She began a second career with the City of Portsmouth as a Pokey Smokey Cashier and later a Museum Service Assistant where she worked until her passing.
BB was a lifelong member of Third Baptist Church and a member of the Loyal Workers Ministry and the Centennial Sunday School class. She was also a member and Past Matron of Venus Chapter #42 Order of the Eastern Star-PHA.
She was predeceased in death by both brothers, Thomas Ray "BooBoo" Bond, Jr. and Euriah "Lil Buddy" Bond. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband, Aurthor C. Williams, Sr.; three daughters: Lynne W. Lamb (Thomas Jr.), Lynda W. Richmond (Kevin), Wendy W. Riddick and Aurthor C. Williams, Jr. (Aurelia) and nine grandchildren
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014, 11am at Third Baptist Church. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be at Corprew Funeral Home on Friday, July 4, 2014 from 2-5 pm.
