Norfolk - Bailey F. Jones, Sr., 98, was called home to be with his Savior Sunday morning, July 6, 2014. Born in Newland Township, Pasquotank Co., NC, to the late Willie H. and Maggie V. (Forbes) Jones, he relocated to Norfolk with his family after serving his country in the United States Army during WWII. It was here he met his wife of 62 years, E. Kathleen (Vian) Jones, and raised a family of seven. Besides his parents he is predeceased by two brothers; Willie A. Jones and Robert C. Jones; two sons, Robert A. Sawyer and Ernest B. Sawyer, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife, E. Kathleen Jones. Besides his wife, remaining to celebrate his life, confidant of reunion in heaven, are sons Bailey F. Jones, Jr. and his wife, (Phyllis) of Norfolk and Daniel W. Jones and his wife, (Regina) of Virginia Beach; daughters, Kathy L. Rein of Duluth, Ga and Susan D. Schroeder and her husband, (Larry) of Norfolk, Laurie E. Jones of Norfolk; sisters, L. Millicent Matheny and her husband, (Warren) of Glenville, WV and Mildred V. Brown of Madison, MS; grandchildren, E. Bradley Sawyer, Jr., Cynthia D. Fair and her husband, (Matthew) of TX, Ginger R. Hansen, Charles C. Christensen, Jr. and his wife, Rebecca of MN, Angela S. Brumfield and her husband, Scot, Carin A. Meadows and her husband, Brandon both of Virginia Beach, Stephanie L. Heath and her husband , Coby of AZ, Christine M. Wood of FL, Robert T. and Stacey L. Sawyer of VA, Tina R. Berg and her husband, Brent of TN, Heather G. Keener and her husband Brian of SC, Bailey F. Jones, III of Norfolk, Jared C. Williams of Norfolk, Ian S. Jones of FL, Danielle E. Jones, Dalton J. Jones both of Virginia Beach and numerous great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11am at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-6pm. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Norfolk with military honors. Online condolences may be offered at www.altmeyer.com.
