Ralph K. Temple PORTSMOUTH - Ralph Kendricks Temple, 83, of Constitution Ave., died Sept. 14, 2008. Mr. Temple, a native of Elizabeth City, N.C., was a retired accountant and automotive comptroller. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Society of the First Infantry Division, known as the "Big Red One," and served in its 26th infantry regiment which was one of the first units to hit Omaha Beach in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the National Association of Accountants, American Society of Notaries and VFW Cradock Post 993. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie Johnson Temple; a daughter, Linda Yvonne Rue and life partner William Spence; a grandson, Roger Blackman Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Tehya Blackman. A private funeral will be held with entombment following in Greenlawn Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, P.O. Box 7247-0253, Philadelphia, PA 19170-0253. Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is handling arrangements.
