Obituary Condolences

Karen G. LeBlanc SOUTHERN SHORES - Karen Sue Green LeBlanc, 55, died unexpectedly at home Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009. Karen was born Sept. 14, 1954, in Wilmington, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Otis Martin Green and Norma Madeline Usher Green. For 35 years, Karen resided in the Outer Banks area. She was employed as a real estate broker for most that time and was well known for her work ethic and expertise in local real estate issues. In her spare time, Karen devoted herself to animal welfare causes and was instrumental in the development of local no-kill animal shelters. She also enjoyed loving and caring for her own pets. Karen's compassion and bright spirit will be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish Karen's memory are her son, Joseph M. LeBlanc of the Southern Shores residence; one stepdaughter, Melinda LeBlanc Crane of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Kenneth M. Green of Lumberton and Robert M. Green and wife Patsy of Centreville, Va.; one sister, Linda Diane Bullock of Southern Shores; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. A visitation will be held at Gallop Funeral Services Chapel, MP 16, Nags Head, today, Sept. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held at Biggs Funeral Home Chapel in Lumberton Thursday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Gardens of Faith cemetery in Lumberton. Condolences to the family may be sent via the online register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services Inc. and Biggs Funeral Home were entrusted with arrangements.
