Lanny E. Jilcott MOYOCK - Lanny Edwards Jilcott, 68, passed away March 6, 2010 at Sentara Leigh Hospital. Born April 21, 1941 in North Carolina, he was a son of the late Judson and Nell Edwards Jilcott. Proudly serving for 26 years in the U.S. Navy, he retired as a chief petty officer. After retiring from the Navy, he became a real estate agent working with Century 21/Nachman. He was a member of the Moyock Baptist Church. An avid fisherman, hunter and archer, he was a member of the NRA and made annual hunting trips to his beloved Oklahoma. He enjoyed "kibitzing" daily with the "good ole boys" of Beechwood Shores and his rambles with his prized Brittany spaniels. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Rebecca Outlaw Jilcott; children, Lanny Michael Jilcott, Rebecca Ann Jilcott and her friend, Chris Stanko; brother, Steve C. Jilcott and wife Beverly of Windsor, N.C.; sister-in-law and brother- in-law, Elizabeth and David Keim of Chase City, Va.; nieces, Stephanie Jilcott, Holly Smith, Hillary Jilcott and Joy Skinner; aunts, Barbara Outland of Fayetteville, N.C., Estelle Harrell of Jackson, N.C., Jean Edwards of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Daphne Askew of Ahoskie, N.C., Jeri Jilcott, Winston- Salem, N.C., Mable Carnes of Norfolk and her husband Jesse. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, at Moyock Baptist Church, 123 Oak St., Moyock, NC with the Rev. Vic Ramsey officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Moyock Baptist Church, the or the National Leukemia Society. Altmeyer Funeral Home- Twiford Chapel, 929 S. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, is in charge of arrangements.
