Sue C. Stone Collins SMITHFIELD - Sue Carolyn Stone Collins, 66, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 14, 2010. A native of Petersburg, Va., Sue was the daughter of the late Albert T. Sr. and Marion Taylor Stone. She was a Smithfield resident since 1964. Community and civic- minded, Sue was a member of the Smithfield Women's Club and was past chairman of the IOW Chapter, American Red Cross Bloodmobile. She was an avid reader and was passionate about Nags Head and the Outer Banks, N.C., and collecting antiques. Professionally, Sue will be remembered as a banker with the former Bank of Smithfield for more than 20 years. She retired from CUNA Mutual as field representative after 20 years of service. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Sue will be sorely missed by her "adopted" Greyhound children, Elvis, Aries and Jazzy. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 48 years, Wade M. Collins; two sons, Jeffery W. Collins and Jamison "Jamie" N. Collins, and wife Melissa, all of Smithfield; three grandchildren, Joseph W. Collins, Kasey W. Collins and Kayleigh G. Collins; her sister, Peggy S. Lawson, and husband Rick of Walkertown, N.C.; her brother, Albert T. Stone Jr. of Petersburg; her aunt, Myra Ruth Robison of Lubbock, Texas; a host of extended family and friends to include an "adopted" daughter, Denise Hundley; a niece, Amy S. Wilson and nephews, Jimmy Stone, Rod Collins and Chris Collins. A service celebrating Sue's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, in Colonial Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jarvis Hearn officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 18, for visitation at the funeral home.
