Obituary Condolences

James Pantelides PORTSMOUTH - James "Jimmy the Greek" Pantelides, 55, died Sept. 9, 2010 in his home. Jimmy was born in Portsmouth, the son of Kika Demetriou Pantelides and the late Arnoff Pantelides. He was employed by the family business, Virginia Novelty, for nearly 40 years. Always smiling, he was known as "Mr. Likeable," and had a great love of life, music, surfing and family. He was a member of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Norfolk. Besides his mother, he is survived by three sons, Jamie, Jeremy and Caleb Pantelides; two brothers, Tony Pantelides, his wife Martha, and their son Alek, and John Pantelides and his wife Donna, all of Portsmouth. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, in Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 7220 Granby St., Norfolk, VA 23505. The Very Rev. Father Ambrose Bitziadis-Bowers will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. A Trisagion service will be held at 7 p.m. today in Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to his church. The family will be at the home of Tony and Martha Pantelides, 7 Tides Court, Portsmouth, VA 23703.
