Lawrence P. Shipp III NORFOLK - Lawrence P. "Sonny" Shipp III, 23, born Jan. 14, 1988, entered his eternal afterlife June 1, 2011 to be with our Lord. "Little" Sonny has left behind his family and friends with irreplaceable memories that will never fade. In his 23 years of life, putting a smile on everyone's face was something he did successfully daily. A native of Norfolk, he was the son of Helen Ware Shipp and Lawrence P. Shipp Jr., and the beloved brother of Veronica Lauren Shipp, also of Norfolk. Sonny was a 2006 graduate of Granby High School and was in the Frisbee Club with O.D., Nate, Dillon, Jake, Stevo, Travis, Justin, Josh, Ryan, Will and many others of his "friends." His passions included skateboarding, skim surfing, the beach and his truck. Sonny is survived by his maternal grandmother, Veronica P. Ware; his parents, Helen Ware Shipp and Lawrence P. Shipp Jr.; a sister, Veronica Lauren Shipp, and her two children Landon Stuart and Alexis Elizabeth Davis and their father, Matthew Allen Davis; and a half-sister, Cecilia Shipp. Sonny is also survived by his aunts, Ronnie Feres and Terry Kristofak of Virginia Beach, Margaret Riviere of Hollywood, Md., and Susan Pope of Norfolk; his uncles, Edward L. Ware of Arizona and Walton Ware of Florida. Sonny had three uncles-in-law, one aunt-in-law, and a huge host of cousins. He will be missed by all. Sonny is also survived by a community of fortunate souls to be blessed by his friendship and energy, however brief and beautiful. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 154 W. Government Ave., Norfolk. The family will begin to gather at 10:15 a.m. Flowers/plants may be sent to the church office today, June 3, by noon and Saturday, June 4, by 10:15 a.m. Family will welcome friends at 501 W.
