Hilton F. Applewhite PORTSMOUTH - Hilton F. Applewhite, 80, went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 2, 2011. He was the son of the late Walter W. Applewhite and Elizabeth L. Powell Applewhite. He was predeceased by his brothers, William Applewhite, John Woodis, Roy Applewhite and Walter Lee Applewhite; a sister, Ruth Applewhite Calvert; and a niece, Mary Applewhite. He is survived by his wife, Diane Applewhite; two sons, Brian "Scott" Applewhite and wife Mary and Mark Applewhite and wife Pamela; a stepdaughter, Josie O'Rourke; a stepson, Michael Thacker; a sister, Bettie F. Capps and husband Jim of Jasper, Fla.; a brother, Larry Applewhite of Chesapeake; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; a special friend, Mary Brink and husband Chet; the dog, Princess; and the cat, Precious. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Bon Secours Hospice. A funeral to celebrate Hilton's life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Fred Williams. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery.
