Patricia Ann Powell CHESAPEAKE - Patricia Ann Powell, 74, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011 in Chesapeake. While recovering from two weeks of radiation for cancer, Patricia suffered sudden cardiac arrest. Her passing was peaceful. Born in Elkton, Md., June 4, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Jean and Richard Redman. She was also predeceased by two sons, Charles and Patrick Chrisman. Patricia enjoyed sewing and crafts, being a member of the Red Hat Ladies, playing cards, going to the movies, dancing and volunteering at Brookwood Elementary School in Virginia Beach. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 40. Most of all, she loved having her family close whenever possible. Patricia's kindness, thoughtfulness and generous nature brought joy to everyone she knew. She remains alive in our minds and hearts. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Milton O. "Mike" Powell; five daughters, Wanda Criner, Leslie Markum, Stacy Swartz, Kimberly Emig and Margaret Dawn Thacker; her sister, Jean James and husband John; special friends, Peggy and Bernie Knoke, as well as many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and close friends. Patricia's life will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
