Virginia Claire McCoy NORFOLK - Virginia Claire McCoy, 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Sept. 3, 2011. She succumbed to an insurmountable battle with cancer for five years. She was a faithful member of the New Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, where she served as an usher. She was a native of Cottageville, S.C., and daughter of the late Morhees Farmer and Florrie Mae Farmer. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband, Morris McCoy, five brothers and two sisters. Her surviving siblings are: Mary Congo, Baltimore, Minnie Alexander, Long Island, N.Y., Viola Farmer, New York, and Robert Farmer, Norfolk. Left to cherish her memory is her devoted son Andre Rhodes and his wife Valerie; two granddaughters and their husbands; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. in New Calvary Baptist Church, 800 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Metropolitan Funeral Service located on 7246 Granby St. The burial will be in the Hampton National Cemetery.
