Chesapeake - John A. Cannon, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior and joined his beloved wife, Betty Jo Lane Cannon, Monday, November 12, 2012 in Norfolk.
A native of Charleston, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Clarence Edward Cannon and Mildred Claudia Bunch Cannon. Mr. Cannon owned his own roofing company prior to his retirement. He will be remembered for his love of cooking for his family and friends. Most of all, John will be remembered for a strong sense of humor, as well as his love and devotion for his family.
Survivors include his daughters, Diane Cannon Walker and husband Frank of Chesapeake, and Ginger Cannon of Hanahan, SC; a brother, Clarence Cannon of Greer, SC; grandchildren, Lauren Smith and husband Buddy, Cliff Ripley, David Ripley and wife Katie, Jackie Sineath and Matthew Baker, and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m., Friday, November 16, in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Rd, Chesapeake. Rev. Roger Hammond will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
