Ruth Ann MacQueen|
Chesapeake - Ruth Ann MacQueen, DVM, 59, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, in Chesapeake. She was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, to Betty MacQueen and the late Charles W. MacQueen.
In addition to her Mother, she is also survived by her loving husband, Roger Pope; her brothers, Charles MacQueen II (Linda) and Douglas MacQueen (Priscilla) of Louisiana, and Stephen MacQueen (Phyllis) of South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dr. MacQueen attended WVU and received her DVM from LSU. Dr. MacQueen had worked to improve the lives of all animals in the Chesapeake area since before she founded Midway Veterinary Hospital over 25 years ago. She worked previously at the Norfolk Zoo and was currently the supervising veterinarian at Chesapeake Animal Control.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2012 at South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church, 1030 Jackson Ave., Chesapeake, VA 23324. Dr. MacQueen's husband would prefer memorial donations be made to the 'Dizzy Fund' at Midway Veterinary Hospital, 1646 South Military Hwy., Chesapeake, VA 23320. Dr. MacQueen set up this fund to care for and assist animals in need.
