Virginia Beach - Elton Thelous Stancil of the 1200 Block of Glyndon Drive slipped into the arms of Jesus on January 24, 2013.
Born in Norfolk County, Elton was the son of the late Abraham Williams and Margaret Lawton McCoy.
Elton was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. He was also a bus driver for Trailway and the owner and operator of Shells-n-Scales in Chesapeake. In addition to this, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his loving wife, Deloris J. Stancil; one son, Elton Jones, Jr.; five sisters, Gloria Bell, Erma Clark, Ernestine Martin (Cleveland), Margie Baskerville and Sandra Lawrence (Herbert); two brothers, Horace McCoy (Linda) and Ronnie McCoy; three grandsons; two great grandchildren; twenty nieces and nephews; fifteen special nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law; cousins, other relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Morning Star Baptist Church, 4780 First Court Road in Virginia Beach, where Rev. Joseph Land is interim pastor, with Rev. Dr. Isaac L. McDonald presiding. Burial will take place on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Fitchett Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Viewing will be at the funeral home Monday from 2-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the
