James Hollomon Jr.
Edenton - James Dorsey Hollomon Jr., 80, of Arrowhead Beach went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, February 24, 2013 in Chesapeake. Jimmy was born on November 20, 1932 to Mable Grace Hewitt Hollomon and James Dorsey Hollomon, Jr., in South Norfolk. He graduated from South Norfolk High School in 1951 and then joined the United States Air force and served four years as a staff sergeant during the Korean War and was later stationed in Boron, California. Mr. Hollomon was a training director for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Norfolk and Richmond and later served as an apprenticeship representative for the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry; he was a long time member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and later a member of Bandon Chapel in North Carolina. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, William "Buddy" Hollomon; sisters, Vivian Payne, Thelma Collins and Evelyn Barnes.
He leaves behind a loving wife of over fifty-nine years, Shirley Paige Hollomon. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, James Wayne Hollomon and Eugene "Marty" Hollomon and his wife, Cheryl of Chesapeake, VA.; grandchildren, Shannon Davis and Marty Hollomon, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Davis, Evan Davis and Katherine Hollomon.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Thursday, February 28, at 11 a.m. at Graham Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Lee Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
