Virginia Beach - Louis Christian Pettersen, 67, of Del Park Avenue, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013.
Born in New York, he was a U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star and achieved the rank of Major with 9 plus years of service.
Louis is survived by his wife, Jeanne Hart Pettersen; daughter Tara Pettersen George and her husband Jeff; son Tait Kristian Pettersen; brother Laurance John Pettersen and wife Linda; grandchildren Veda, Haille, Keira, Brendan, and Connor; and his favorite four-legged child, Chessie.
Louis had a long-time interest in sport-fishing, fly-fishing, trap shooting, collecting antique fishing reels, Corvettes, American muscle cars, and more recently cooking and glass-blowing. Louis and Jeanne have travelled the world and had many adventures, including camel-riding in Morocco, zip-lining in the Amazon, climbing to Machu Picchu, and motorcycling around Germany. But his main passion was spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered as the person that could talk to anybody about anything. He was generous, caring, and would go out of his way to help somebody out. He was passionate about fishing, politics, "great deals", Tabasco, Virginia peanuts, and boats. He will be most remembered for his loyalty to family, friends, and country.
A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday evening at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel with Pastor Harry Griffith. The family will remain at the funeral home until 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
