Portsmouth - Charles Edward Pixton, age 81, slipped from this life into eternity on April 5, 2013 leaving behind the family that loved him so dearly. Charles was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ruth and Seth Pixton. After completing high school in Salt Lake City, Charles joined the Army and served during the Korean War era. After his service, he returned to school graduating with his Master's Degree.
Charles went on to work as a Regional Planner for the Appalachian Regional Commission retiring after 35 years of dedicated service. He had a great love for his family, singing, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a stalwart member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions.
Charles was predeceased by his beloved first wife, Patricia Jean Pixton. He is survived by his wife, Judith Pixton; 6 children, Cheryl Johnson and her husband, Monte, David Pixton and his wife, Connie, Glenn Pixton and his wife, Barbara, Randall Pixton and his wife, Ramona, Julie Hanks and her husband, Shawn, Bruce Pixton and his wife, Shannon; 3 stepsons, Scott Lippin, Eric Lippin, Jason Hunter; 30 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Richard Pixton, Robert Pixton, Paul Pixton; and his cherished dog, Casper. The lives of all who met him were changed by his kindness and gentle ways.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 9, at 11a.m. in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Portsmouth Ward. The family will receive friends in Loving Funeral Home Monday from 7-8 p.m. and online condolences may be made at www.lovingfuneralhome.com. Burial will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO
