Virginia Beach - Fred E. Stith, Virginia Beach, 70, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 9, 2013. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Fred was the youngest of 5 siblings. Fred devoted 30 honorable years to the US Navy, rising thru Enlisted and Warrant Officer ranks, before retiring as a commissioned Naval Officer of Lieutenant Commander. Fred served military tours in Vietnam, Southwest Asia, and other battle zones. While serving, he earned many notable military awards. After his distinguished military career, Fred earned his college degree, taught, tutored, and volunteered for the Denison School District in Denison, Texas.
Fred is survived by his wife, Lourdes; children, Marilou, Elizabeth, Gary, and Dale Marie; grandchildren, Marie, Jeffrey, Marina, Lauren, Alec, Lucas, Cassidy, and Holden; great-grandchildren, Arabella and Mathias; brother, Dale Ross and wife Judi; and sister, Jeanette and husband Jerry. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred D. W. Stith and Frances Bauldridge; and siblings, Sam and Phyllis.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown, 1264 Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, on Friday, April 12, from 6 until 8 p.m.
The funeral with military honors will be held at Fort Story Chapel located at Fort Story, on Saturday, April 13, at 1 p.m.
