Virginia Beach - Gloria Cassia Tucker, 81, of the 4800 block of Mandan Rd. flew up to Heaven on the wings of Angels on June 27, 2013 with her family by her side. She was born on June 26, 1932 in Brooklyn NY to the late Vincent and Frances Spinelli. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Marie Spinelli. She was a Devout Catholic and a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church. After high school Gloria pursued her dream of nursing and worked in several hospitals in NY before finally setting her roots at Holmes Convalescent Center in Virginia Beach where she retired after twenty years of service. Gloria was a dedicated and devoted nurse to her patients and her efforts showed by winning the "Best of the Best" nursing award on the East Coast in 1991.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, William Tucker; her children, David Noel of Norfolk, Donald Noel, Anne Singleton and husband, Tom of Suffolk, Lori Samson and finance, Kevin Kerwin, and Lisa Noel of Virginia Beach. "Memaw" leaves behind her greatest treasures of her grandchildren: Christy, Beth, Justin, Jayme, Gregory, Jessica, and Conrad. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren. Family was everything to Gloria, her greatest joy in life was family gatherings at her home. She always went the extra mile to make holidays special, especially Christmas.
Everyone who knew Gloria was aware of the kind heart she had, always being the first to jump in and help, lend an ear to a friend, and mostly how she always talked about her family. Friends may join the family on Tuesday, July 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, July 3, at 1 p.m. for a memorial service at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd. Virginia Beach, followed by a reception in the funeral home to celebrate her life. Burial will be private in Rosewood Memorial Park.
