James K. Pearman
Virginia Beach - James K. Pearman, 91, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sept. 10, 2013. James is predeceased by his wife of 57 years. Rachel Bell Pearman and his daughter Linda Kay Williams.
He was born in West Virginia, and was one of three children. James graduated for Welch High school and entered the U.S. Navy in 1940. In 1944 he met and married the love of his life and from their union they had one child, Linda. Shortly thereafter he returned to active duty and served in three tours as a Radio operator on the USS Cincinnati, Alabama, Indiana, North Carolina and Dayton during WWII and The Korean War. He served his country proudly and was honorably discharged in 1951.
After leaving the military he worked for Motorola and Zenith until he retired in 1989. He enjoyed swimming, dancing, music, and traveling. James was a member of Virginia Beach Methodist Church and Downtown Bible Study. He led a very active life until his health began to fail him. James spent his last days enjoying time and stories about his life with family.
James is survived by his son-in-law Larry Williams; grandchildren Christopher B. Stephens, Clayton B. Stephens, Shannon Snow and her husband William; one great-grandchild Katelyn Snow, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 16, 2013 10 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. All services will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk VA 23502. All condolences may be left for the family at
