Virginia Beach - Jade Alexis Mellenkamp, 18, passed away unexpectedly October 2, 2013. She was born in Norfolk, VA. to Robert and Kari Mellenkamp. Graduating with Honors from Landstown High School this past June, she began to pursue her dreams of becoming a teacher by attending Tidewater Community College with a deep interest for special needs children.
In addition to her parents, left to cherish her memories are brother, Josh Mellenkamp; maternal grandmothers Donna Jean "Nana" Masters and Maria "Abuela" Mellenkamp; aunt, Doni Riley, uncles Lea Masters II (Lupe), Roger Mellenkamp and Rick Mellenkamp (Maria); cousins, Matthew, Megan, Millie, Maddie, Jessie, Kris, and Dylan; special family friends Aunt Lori and Uncle Mike O'Brien and the love of her life, Thomas Lindley, who one day wanted to marry her. She was predeceased by her Grandfathers, Lea Masters I and Edward Mellenkamp.
Jade had such a bubbly personality, with such energy and a spirit that could not be contained. She always found a way to turn a negative into a positive. Her silliness and impersonations put a smile on everyone's faces. She had such a love for her family and a tight bond with her mom and she was her daddy's little girl.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 3pm in the Graham Funeral Home Chapel 1112 Kempsville Rd, Chesapeake, Va. with Pastor Tracey Gregory officiating. The family will receive Friends at the funeral home from 3-4:30 pm Saturday. October 5, 2013. Please visit her "Book of Memories" at www.grahamfuneralhome.com to view the service if unable to attend and to leave a note to the family.
