Michael Overcash Obituary
Virginia Beach - Michael Easton "Elwood" Overcash, 50, of Virginia Beach, VA died October 30, 2013.
Michael grew up in Virginia Beach. He attended The Berkeley School of Music and was a tremendous talent in the local and regional music scene. His bands and projects played extensively in the college and club circuit up and down the east coast for three decades. But of all his many popular projects, he will certainly be best known as a founding member, song writer and guitarist for the band Locals Only. With three albums released, Mike inspired many with his guitar prowess and infectious smile and presence on stage.He will be remembered as a rock and roll musical genius. He touched the hearts of so many with his music, his larger than life personality and huge heart.
'You gave, you shared, you grew, you loved, and you belonged. God could not ask anything more of you. Your good deeds did not go unnoticed and your absence here will never be forgotten. God got another good Angel.'
He was preceded in death by his father and mother Marvin and Elizabeth Overcash and his brother Andrew "Hoss" Overcash. Survivors include his son Harrison Miles Overcash, brothers, Charles E. Overcash of Hawaii and Stephen C. Overcash, cousin, Mary Overcash Brunk of Lutherville, Maryland, sister in law, Kimberly A. Overcash; niece, Elizabeth K. Overcash; and his faithful four legged companion, Floyd.
A celebration of his life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 7, at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel.

I got to work with Mike and Locals Only on one of their records and I have fond memories of that time and many others as we became friends. I was shocked to hear the news. He will be missed.

One of the first live bands I saw as a kid in Virginia Beach. Mike was cool in sharing with me his taste in music, and suggested listens. He provided me important & valuable experiences in my formative years. Rippin a lick on a cloud somewhere - peace.
