Orris Iii Obituary
Parksley - Mr. Orris James "Jimmy" Rowley, III, 59, of Parksley, passed away on December 4, 2013 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.
Born in Nassawadox, Va. on November 29, 1954, he was the son of the late Orris James Rowley Jr. and Jessie Walker Rowley.
Jimmy was an extraordinary member of the Eastern Shore and held positions within the EMS, Fire Department and Masonic community.
He was a Magistrate for the Virginia Supreme Court having jurisdiction over the 7th magisterial region and was a member of the Virginia Magistrates Association. He was also a past supervisor and dispatcher for the Eastern Shore 911 Center.
Mr. Rowley was extensively involved in the Masonic Lodge #325 AF/AM and Central Lodge #300 AF/AM in Onley. He was a past Exalted Ruler for the BPOE #1766 Elks and had was involved in his Church.
Jimmy was immensely involved in the fire company and had been a member of the Parksley Vol. Fire Company for 44 years. He served in many capacities. He also held positions in the DelMarVa Fireman's Association.
Jimmy was a longtime VA EMS instructor, where he instructed innumerable students in the art he loved. He was also involved in several positions within the EMS community.
Jimmy is survived by an uncle, Brice Walker, several cousins and countless friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, December 10, at 2 p.m. from Grace United Methodist Church in Parksley, Va. Interment will follow in the Parksley Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Parksley Volunteer Fire Company.

I apologize for intruding at a time of grief. Jimmy's name caught my eye, and I'm most curious for whom his grandfather Orris was named. The reason for my curiosity is that my name is Orris B. James, Jr., My father was born and raised on the Eastern Shore and was named for Capt. Orris Browne, a large landowner in Accomack. Since "Orris" is rather unusual and there's an Eastern Shore connection, I hope you can understand the reason for my inquiry, even if my timing of it is unfortunate.
