Roger A. Tekamp

Norfolk - Roger A. Tekamp of 327 Fairfax Avenue, Norfolk, died on the morning of Tuesday, February 11th. At the time of his death he was residing at the residence of his son Mark. Born March 31, 1924 in Dayton, Ohio Roger was the son of Alfred and Alma Tekamp. A resident until this past June of Roanoke, Virginia he had retired in 1991 from Roanoke Electric Steel. Prior to his having moved to Roanoke he had lived in Worthington and Marion Ohio in addition to Wheeling, West Virginia.

Roger graduated from Stivers High School in 1942 and saw active duty in the United States Army during the Second World War. After his military service he attended Ohio State University where he graduated in 1950 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Roger was one of three sons of Alfred and Alma Tekamp. His older brother Donald is now deceased and is survived by his younger brother Stanley. Married for forty-eight years to Yvonne "Bonnie" Tekamp she preceded him in death in 1997. He is survived by three sons, Gary, Brian and Mark, his daughter in law, Margie, and his four grandchildren, Katherine Hebert and her husband Luke of Virginia Beach, Austin, Alec and Zachary, all residents of Norfolk.

Services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Norfolk at 11 am Saturday, February 15th, with a reception to follow at the family's home.

The family would also like to express its appreciation to Sonia Jones and the other care-givers of Medi- Hospice for the love and care they shared with Roger during his final months of life.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Roger's memory to the in Washington, DC. Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the cremation.
