Jerauld Prather Obituary

Jerauld Prather

Virginia Beach - Jerauld Stuart Prather, LCDR US Navy (Ret) brother, husband, father, and Papa left us unexpectedly on April 11, 2015 due to heart failure.

Jerry was born the son of Rubye Mae Childers and Dewitt Gipson Prather in Waynesboro, PA. In 1955, the family returned to Charlotte, NC. Jerry was a graduate of the US Naval Academy Class of 1963. A veteran of the Vietnam and Cold Wars, he served on active duty for 20 years and spent several years working as a civilian contractor in Virginia Beach, his final home.

Jerry is survived by Barbara, his wife of 50 years; two sons, Michael and Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Tara; a grandson, J.D.; and his sister Angela.

Services will be on Sat April 18 at 10:30 AM at Kings Grant Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (www.nmcrs.org/page/contribute/donate2015).
