Bill McVicker Obituary
Norfolk - LCDR William "Bill" McVicker, USN (Retired) died in his home Monday the 20th of June.
He is pre-deceased by his wife, and mother of his children, Sue Urey McVicker and his parents. Bill is survived by his 3 adult children, William, Alexandra and Andrew, and his wife, Kim.
Bill proudly served his country for 26 years in the USN and 7 years in government service at PMRF Kauai. His career began enlisted in submarine service and ended as an officer in the F-14 flight community. After the events of 9-11, Bill returned to active service on a retiree recall. His dedication to serve his country was a lifelong passion.

I too was lucky enough to work with Smut at VF-101 as an F-14 Instructor. Bill was awesome! He had the ability to perform as an amazing professional doing noble work producing our nations best Naval fighter pilots and RIOs, while bringing enthusiasm and an incredible sense of humor to a very challenging profession. Bill made all of us better instructors and friends. I am very thankful for the time we all had together. I am sorry for your loss and my prayers are with the family. Please take some comfort in knowing that Bill made our world a better place. May God Bless and keep him.

It was my privilege to serve with Bill flying F-14's with VF-101. He was a tremendous officer, and a patriot. When I think of Bill I can her his voice and see his wry smile, and I remember how he laughed. He was taken too soon. My heartfelt condolences to his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I REMEMBER A VERY KIND MAN, ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP WHENEVER NEEDED. HE WAS A MAN WHO LOVED ANIMALS AND MADE THE LIVES OF SO MANY BETTER. GOD BLESS
