Elizabeth Hayden Gunning, 91, of Lebanon Junction, died on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Elmcroft of Mount Washington.

The native of New Hope,Ky., was baptized at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. Her family relocated to Lebanon Junction and she became a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. She was a devoted wife and loving mother spending her days cooking and caring for her family.She had a servant's heart, a sweet personality, strong faith and thankfulness for the many blessings she received during her long life. She has left us with many memories that will always make us smile when we think of her. The family thanks the staff at Elmcroft of Mount Washington who helped care for her the last two years of her life.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Cliff Kennedy; their4 son, James C. Kennedy; her husband of 54 years, Joseph Don Gunning; her parents, Francis Gabriel and Martha O'Bryan Hayden; and 10 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children, Mick (Susan) Gunning of New Haven and Beverly (Mark) Krajewski of Shepherdsville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Lebanon Junction with the Rev. Brian Kenney officiating. Burial will be in St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church Cemetery in New Hope.
Visitation was from 1-8 p.m. on Thursday and after 8 a.m. on Friday at Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
