Helen Joyce Pepper, 83, of Lebanon Junction, died on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.

The former Helen Joyce Cofer was a native of Jefferson County. She graduated from Holy Name Academy in Louisville and a former bookkeeper for Rueff Lighting Co.
She was a housewife and a homemaker for over 56 years. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Lebanon Junction.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Garrett Pepper Jr.; sister, Agnes Min Painter; and a brother, William H. "Sonny" Cofer Jr.
She is survived by three daughters, Lynn Marie Edmonds of Lebanon Junction, Lisa Ann Dougan of Colesburg and Leslie Elizabeth (Patrick) Brown of Crestwood; six grandchildren, Garrett Dougan, Glenn (Gina) Dougan, Selena Dougan, Hannah Brown, Nicholas Brown and Sydney Brown; a great-grandchild, Cayleb McGrew; a brother, Lawrence Michael (Joy) Cofer of Lebanon, Ind.; and a sister, Doris Elizabeth (Joseph) Duffey of Williamsville, N.Y.
Funeral Mass was at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, at St. Benedict Catholic Church with the Rev. Brian Kenney officiating. Burial was in St. James Catholic Church Cemetery in Elizabethtown. Visitation was from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday and after 9 a.m. on Friday at Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
