Helen Louise Curtsinger Shouse Ruby, 86, of McDaniels, Ky., died on Monday, July 2, 2012.
She was a retired employee of the Jefferson County Public Schools and a former employee of the Bullitt County Board of Education. She was a member of the Shepherdsville American Legion Auxiliary, Shepherdsville VFW Post ladies Auxiliary, Order of Eastern Star, Shepherdsville Senior Center and a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a current member of Rough River Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Blanche Curtsinger; a brother, W.B. "Whitey" Curtsinger; stepsons, Greg and Stuart Ruby; and a great-granddaughter, Baillie Mitchell.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur Parish Ruby; three children, Sandra Shouse Robinson, Beverly (Gary) Shouse Maguffee and Danny Dale (Norma) Shouse; stepdaughter, LaDonna Childress; sister, Barbara Ann (Russell) Hamlett; eight grandchildren, Amy (Mike) Robinson Hargis, Maj. Wesley (Laurie) Robinson, Carter Robinson, Tara Hourigan Mitchell, Aaron (Amy) Hourigan, Daniel (Megan) Shouse, Brandon (Samantha) Shouse and Matthew Childress; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, at Mcfarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home in Mount Washington with burial in Highview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 10 a.m. on Thursday. Memorial gifts may go to Rough River Baptist Church.
