John William Pulliam, 80, of Elizabethtown, died on Thursday, March 21, 2013.
The native of Shepherdsville was born on Sept. 22, 2932. He married the former Margaret Mary Cusack of Westport, Ireland, on Aug. 14, 2953. He was a career military man obtaining the rank of Chief Master Sergeant in under 12 years and retiring after 20 years of service in the U.S. Air Force. Upon retiring, he joined the U.S. General Accounting Office, specializing in auditing military spending and defense weapons systems. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Mary Pulliam; his parents; a brother; a sister; and a grandson.
He is survived by four children, Shirley A. Nordeen, John David Pulliam, Mary (Richard) Pulliam-Ellis and Frances T. Pulliam; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald H. Pulliam.
Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Matthew Hardesty officiating. Burial was in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Dixon-Atwood & Trowbridge Funeral Home.
