During her prolonged battle with cancer, she continued to use her creative skills to make quilts, afghans and shawls that were auctioned during the Relay for Life events and donated to the Daughters of Ruth Ministry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph J. and Mallie Taylor Voll.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert L. Werkmeister; children, Lee Mallie East, Dr. James R. (Kelly) Werkmeister, Elizabeth A. (Cory) Smith; a sister, Barbara S. (Benson) Taylor; and nine grandchildren.
A celebration of life service and meal will be held at Cedar Grove Baptist Church on Sunday, July 8, from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kentuckiana Girl Scout Council or the American Cancer Society.
