William Bateman, 85, of Shepherdsville, died on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at the Norton Hosparus Inpatient Unit.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Lou Fox Bateman, in 2003.
He was a retired truck driver and also retired from the U.S. Army.
He is survived by four sons, William Bateman Jr. of Shepherdsville, Troy Allen Bateman of Hillview, Timothy Wade Bateman of Cox's Creek and Kevin Todd Bateman of Bardstown; two daughters, Evaneline White of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Sharon Vunn of Raleigh, N.C.; three brothers, C.A. Bateman, Hal Bateman and Donald Bateman; five sisters, Jane Byrum, Alma Kerner Gates, Ernistine Revelle, Maureen Spear and Joanne Graham; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, at Schmid Funeral Home in Mount Washington with burial in Mount Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday. On-line condolences may go to schmidfh.com
