Darrell Viers Obituary

Darrell Reed Vires, 58, of Mount Washington, died on Thursday, March 14, 2013.
He was a sergeant with the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office, a retired employee of General Electric, a past master and treasurer of the Salt River Masonic Lodge 180 F&AM, honorary member of Taylorsville Lodge 210, Austin Lodge 847, Vincennes Lodge 1, Walton-Verona Lodge 719, Corydon Lodge 799, a member of Valley of Louisville Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, lifetime member of Bullitt County Scottish Rite Club, past grand marshal of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky in 2008, past district deputy grand master of District 17, charger member of RAM Bullitt Council 144, RAM Bullitt Chapter 44, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Plum Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reed and Louise Vires; and a brother, Freddie Vires.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Fulkerson Vires; four sons, Michael (Sheri), Matthew (Jennifer), Brian (Stephanie) and Darren (Casey) Vires; three sisters, Shirley Swift, Janice (Dickie) Hall and Diane (Glenn) Lyons; two brothers, Scotty and Ricky Vires; eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 18, at McFarland-Troutman-Proffitt Funeral Home in Mount Washington with a graveside Masonic service and burial at Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Saturday, Noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday and after 9 a.m. on Monday.
Memorial gifts may go to the American Cancer Society or the Walter Thomas Knapp Memorial Scholarship Fund.
