PEORIA - Helen Jean Mosley, 64, of Peoria passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Kindred Hospital in Peoria, Ill.
She was born Sept. 17, 1949, in Clarksdale, Miss., to Eddie Baker and Julia Warren. After graduating high school, Helen met and married Charles Mosley Sr. Together they raised seven beautiful children whom they loved and adored before Charles passed in 2005.
Helen was a faithful member of St. Luke's Missionary Baptist Church. Her favorite pastimes were cooking and shopping, but most of all, just spending time with her children.
Helen leaves to continue her story two stepsons, Charles Mosley and Raymond (Kim) Mosley, both of Peoria, Ill.; five stepdaughters, Charlotte Mosley, Tracey (David) Sumrell, Vera Mosley and Stacey Mosley, all of Peoria, Ill., and Shira Polk of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Eddie (Bertha) Baker Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif.; and four sisters, Susie Myles of Peoria, Ill., Vangie Anderson of Clarksdale, Miss., Lillie Rash of Los Angeles, Calif., and Sophie Brown of St. Louis, Mo. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, including her church family at St. Luke's M.B. Church.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, one stepson and several grandchildren.
A homegoing celebration will be Saturday, April 12, 2014, at St. Luke's Missionary Baptist Church in Peoria, Ill. Services will begin at 10 a.m., with visitation commencing one hour prior. The Rev William O. Sturdivant will officiate services. Interment will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
Arrangements were made especially for Helen's family and professionally directed by T.W. Parks Colonial Chapel.
