Ivey, Galen  
MORTON - Galen E. Ivey, 92, of Morton passed away at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at Morton Terrace Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Morton. He was born Sept. 25, 1922, in Beardstown, Ill., to John and Corrine (Price) Ivey. He married Bernadine Geiger on June 12, 1949, in Morton. Surviving are his wife, Bernadine Ivey of Morton; three sons, Steve (Gwen) Ivey of Gastonia, N.C., Robert (Janice Leininger) Ivey of Morton and John (Cynthia) Ivey of Lyons, Ill.; four grandchildren; and six great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two half brothers. A World War II veteran, Galen served with the U.S. Coast Guard from 1943 to 1946. Galen worked as an electrician for 38 years at Keystone Steel and Wire Company, retiring in 1984 as an electrician foreman. He was a member of Morton United Methodist Church. Galen was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He enjoyed working with wood after his retirement. Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2015, at Morton United Methodist Church in Morton, with Pastor Gary Motta officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin at a later date. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Morton United Methodist Church or Safe Haven Hospice in Lincoln, Ill.
