Nolan, Mark  
PEORIA - Mark S. Nolan, 59, of Peoria passed away on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, in the arms of his loving partner, David Bauman, and surrounded by his family. He was born in Decatur on Oct. 17, 1955, to Paul J. and Marjorie (Gambrel) Nolan. Mark is survived by his devoted partner of 25 years, David Bauman; his sister, Beth (Rod) Merriman of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and brothers, J. Michael (Janet) of Colorado Springs, Colo., and John M. (Gale) of East Peoria. He is also survived by David's family, Don and Susan Beason, Deana (Dennis) Dickerson, Dana Bauman, Donna (Steve) Allen and Darci Spasojevich. In addition, he leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends to cherish his memory. His parents preceded him in death. Growing up in Decatur, Mark graduated from Eisenhower High School and then attended Millikin University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in business. Mark worked for many years in restaurant management at VOP's, Donnelly's and Joe's Crab Shack. He most recently could be found behind the design counter at Gregg's Florist in Peoria Heights. During his youth, he was an avid and successful tournament tennis player, continuing into his adulthood. Mark was a passionate animal lover, leaving behind his dogs, Myles and Allie. He is now spoiling Madeline and Luckydog in heaven. Prior to his illness, Mark enjoyed many happy times with his family and David at the beach in Florida and the mountains of Colorado. Mark was a very devoted uncle to Matthew Dickerson, who cherished his honesty and wit! A special thank you to his OSF Home Care nurse, Jessica Everett, for the exceptional and loving care she provided. Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to SAMS No-kill Animal Shelter in Hanna City or Illinois CancerCare. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 W. Lake Ave., in Peoria. Nafziger, Herbert  
HOPEDALE - Herbert D. Nafziger, 94, of Hopedale passed away at 9:58 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton. He was born Sept. 25, 1920, in Hopedale to Daniel B. and Eva M. Sutter Nafziger. He married Louise M. Moushon on Dec. 27, 1941, in East Peoria. She passed away March 19, 2005. Surviving are one son, Daniel (Jane) Nafziger of Prophetstown; two daughters, Carol (Harry) Eeten of Tremont and Joyce (Bruce) Peifer of Dunlap; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Wilma) Nafziger of Delavan and James Nafziger of Glen Ellyn; and three sisters, Fannie (Edgar) Urish of Mount Sterling, Irene Frakes of Aledo, Texas, and Ruth (Bill) Mason of Hesston, Kansas. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Herbert worked at R.G. LeTourneau for 43 years and also owned and operated a farm in the Mackinaw area. He was a member of Hopedale Mennonite Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at Hopedale Mennonite Church in Hopedale. Pastor Kurt Walker will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Hopedale. Burial will be in Mennonite Cemetery in Hopedale. Nelson, Harold - Peoria  
PEORIA - Harold J. Nelson, 91, of Peoria, Ill., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at 1:56 p.m. Born Nov. 30, 1923, in Fountain Green, Ill., to Harold E. Nelson and Esther B. Yetter, he graduated from Manual Training High School in February 1942. He worked at Hiram Walker Distillery. He was inducted into the United States Army in February 1943 and served three years with the 21st AAA HQ Battery attached 9th Air Force. He served E.T.O. England, Normandy, North France, Rhineland and Central Europe. Harold was honorably discharged Dec. 21, 1945, as a staff sergeant. He married Eleanora Jean "Cook" Kissner on Jan. 5, 1946. She survives. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by two sons, Steven Louis Nelson and Lanny Reed Nelson. In 1946, he worked at Pabst Brewery, where he was a foreman in shipping and receiving. Later, Harold joined the Peoria Fire Department in April 1956 and served 26 1/2 years, retiring in September 1982 as assistant fire chief. He was a licensed pilot, a certified scuba diver, a parachutist, a backpacker, avid hiker and avid reader. His favorite acronym was GOYAASMA: "Get off your butt and start moving around." Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online tributes and condolences may be made at .

PEKIN - Sandra "Sandy" F. Nelson, 75, of Pekin passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Cremation has been accorded by Preston Hanley Funeral Home. Family graveside services will be held at a later date at Harris Cemetery in Table Grove.
