Callahan, Andrew  
PEKIN - Andrew Lee Callahan, 33, of Pekin passed away at 8:39 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2015, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born Nov. 10, 1981, in Peoria to David Lee and Karol Ann (Landrith) Callahan. He was preceded in death by his mother on April 11, 2005. He also was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Donald Callahan. Surviving are his father, David Callahan of Pekin; paternal grandmother, Julia Gay of Jacksonville, Fla.; maternal grandparents, James R. and Hazel "Bea" Landrith of Pekin; two sisters, Holly A. Callahan and Melody L. (Travis) Willock, both of Pekin; and several aunts and uncles. A 2000 graduate of Pekin Community High School, Andrew received his associate degree from Illinois Central College in 2002. He worked at various area Kroger Stores, including becoming the produce manager in Peoria. Andrew returned to ICC and received his Truck Driving Certification in 2013. He traveled the country while driving over the road for Maverick Trucking. He enjoyed spending time with family, watching movies, bowling and playing cards and video games. He also enjoyed attending Peoria Chiefs baseball games and camping in the family RV. His friendly smile and unique laughter always spread joy to everyone. Selfless and kind, Andrew cherished family above anything else, especially the Friday evening family dinners. Andrew was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. James C. McClarey will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 29, 2015, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Additional visitation will from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday at his church. PEKIN - Anna Jean Cargill, 83, of Pekin passed away at 1:25 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Born Feb. 15, 1932, in Paducah, Ky., to Lyle W. and Martha E. (Lyon) Grainger, she married Frank Cargill on Nov. 6, 1947, in Pekin. He died Oct. 17, 2007, in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are one son, Paul (Tina) Cargill of Pekin; one daughter, Pamela Scott of Pekin; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Neff of Florida and Beverly Redden of Paducah, Ky.; and one brother, Thomas (Shirley) Herrold of Las Vegas. Anna owned and operated Safari Lanes in Morton for 13 years. Previously, she worked as a draft clerk for Pekin Insurance for 10 years. She enjoyed gardening and quilting, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Anna was a member of St. John's (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Chris Sansom and DCE Bill Krueger will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Woodrow Cemetery in rural Pekin. Memorial contributions may be given to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, 8630 N. Charlett, Lawrence  
EUREKA - Lawrence E. Charlett, 85, of Eureka, Ill., died at 12:38 a.m. Monday, May 25, 2015, at Advocate Eureka Community Hospital. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home in El Paso, Ill., with the Rev. Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in El Paso. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the memorial home. Memorials may be made to Maple Lawn in Eureka. Lawrence was born July 22, 1929, in Kewanee, Ill., the son of Albert and Beulah Stine Charlett. He married Hazel Hadfield on May 10, 1953, in Leroy, Ill. She survives, along with one son, Mark (June) Charlett of Oswego; one sister, Gail (Herbert) Garland of McComb, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Scott Charlett, April Naramore and Jacqueline Charlett. He has four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Elmer and Russell. Lawrence was a member of the Plymouth Brethren Church in Delavan and the American Trap Shooting Association. He served in the Army National Guard in Kewanee. He was a truck driver, working for Pyles Trucking in Deer Creek, and then Brubaker Trucking in Eureka, and he owned and operated his own truck for many years, hauling heavy equipment for Machinery Transport.

Clark, Roy  
PEKIN - Roy S. Clark, 67, of Pekin passed away and joined his Heavenly Father at 5:55 p.m. Monday, May 25, 2015, at his home. Born Jan. 23, 1948, in Canton, he was the eldest son of Harry and Verna (Vaughan) Clark. He married Linda K. Riley on June 20, 1970, in Canton. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Ryan (Trisha) Clark of Pekin; one daughter, Stephanie (Ben) Hull of Pekin; four grandchildren, Reese Richardson, Emma Clark, Bella Clark and Carter Hull; one brother, David (Sally) Clark of Kissimmee, Fla.; two nieces; and one nephew. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Kathleen Clark of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dan Clark; and a nephew, Christopher Clark. A 1966 graduate of Canton High School, he was a 1970 graduate of Illinois State University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. He worked for Oak Grove School District 68 as a 7th and 8th grade math teacher for 31 years, retiring in 2003 from the West School in Bartonville. He was a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association. Roy was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin, where he was a financial secretary for five years and a past member and chair of the finance committee. Roy was a loving husband of 45 years, a devoted father, caring grandfather, inspiring teacher and an avid Cardinals baseball fan. He enjoyed painting, reading, playing chess and working Sudoku puzzles. His memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church. Inurnment will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin. Arrangements have been entrusted by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1315 Court St., Pekin, IL 61554. The family would like to thank OSF Hospice for their care. EAST PEORIA - Peggy J. Cochran, 89, of East Peoria passed away peacefully Sunday, May 24, 2015, at Grand View Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Peoria. She was born on March 24, 1926, in Cabool, Mo., the daughter of Denver and Bonnie Shipp Fredrick. She married Dwayne C. Cochran on May 27, 1944. He passed away on April 5, 2002, in Springfield, Mo. She was also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Surviving are her daughter, Sherry L. Duncan (Randy Perry) of Chillicothe, Ill.; and one granddaughter, Angela L. Pokarney of East Peoria. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of her remains will be at a later date in Allen Cemetery in rural Raymondville, Mo. Colgan, John - Bartonville  
PEORIA - John D. Colgan, 93, of Peoria, formerly of Bartonville, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015, at Proctor Endowment Home in Peoria. John was born on Dec. 1, 1921, in Dunlap, Ill., to William and Eva (Doyle) Colgan. He married Madeline Kopitsky on July 29, 1944, in Baltimore, Md. She preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 2015. Also preceding him in death were his parents, his son, James Colgan, his brother, two sisters and two grandchildren. Surviving are his daughter, Joanne Brasher of St. Louis, Mo.; his daughter-in-law, Beth Colgan of Chillicothe, Ill.; one grandchild, Natalie Colgan; four great-grandchildren, Marc, Jerami, Jessica and Justin Brasher; and one great-great-grandchild, Corbin Brasher. Also surviving is one sister, Loretta Hornbacker of Peoria, Ill. John served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He then worked as a reeler for Keystone Wire & Steel Co. until he retired in November of 1980. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Bartonville. Services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with visitation held one hour prior to the service at the church. Father David Heinz will be officiating.
