CHILLICOTHE - Mark E. "Red Hat" Kennedy, 48, of Chillicothe passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his family. Mark was born on April 5, 1966, to Donna R. Gill and Harold E. Kennedy Jr. Surviving are his mother, Donna R. Davis of Chillicothe; one son, Garrett Kennedy of Olympia, Wash.; two daughters, Cortney and Jessie Kennedy, both of Chillicothe; two sisters, Dianna (Tom) Schmitt-Thompson of Chillicothe and Kathy (Rocky) Gardner of Enterprise, Ore.; one nephew, Jake Schmitt of Pittsburgh, Pa.; numerous cousins, including Tim Gill of Blue Ridge; three stepsisters, Lanita Jo Shoemaker of Lincoln, Ladona Stork of Varna and Sandy Kennedy of Henry; his fiancee, Caryn Knop of Chillicothe; her children, Ally Knop, Jami (Steve) Turner and Nathan (Kelsey) Knop; and her grandchildren, Mackenzie and Brody Turner and Jackson and Lincoln Knop, all of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold; and stepfather, Jim Davis. Mark was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan and attended games every year. He was also an avid outdoorsman, fond of fishing, camping and mushroom hunting. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2015, at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. The Rev. Ray Harrison will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2015, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be held at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Key, Carolyn  
TREMONT - Carolyn K. Key, 76, of Tremont passed away at 5:52 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born May 27, 1938, in Peoria to Leo O. and Celia A. Hutchcraft Moore. She married James F. Key on Aug. 21, 1960, in Tremont, and he survives. Also surviving are one son, David (Sharon) Key of Morton; one daughter, Debbie (Ron) Livengood of Mackinaw; two grandchildren, Emily and Lindsey Key; two stepgrandchildren, Kevin Livengood and Kayla (Jeremiah) Stewart; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Nicolai and Braxton Stewart; one sister, Linda (Craig) Robison of Tremont; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Carolyn graduated from Illinois State University in Normal in 1960 with a bachelor's degree in physical education and business. She began her teaching career at Hopedale schools, then taught at Pekin, and was athletic director at Morton High School and retired from Morton High School in 1994. She was a member of Tremont Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, was in the hand bell choir and church choir and served as deaconess. She was a member of Tremont Garden Club, where she served as past president; was a member of Tazewell County Retired Teachers and Red Hat Society; and was a member of the ISU 50-Year Alumni Club. She was a member of Fondulac Golf League, Morton Pine Lakes and Quail Meadows and belonged to several couples golf leagues and went on golf outings with friends. She was a member of Caterpillar Camping Club and a pinochle club with friends. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed watching all sporting events and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and granddogs. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Tremont Baptist Church in Tremont. Pastor Noah Lee will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Tremont. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Tremont Baptist Church. Kluge, Bernadine  
EAST PEORIA - Bernadine C. Kluge, 89, of Morton, formerly of East Peoria, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton. Born Jan. 21, 1926, in Michigan City, Ind., to Henry F. and Elsie Rose (Eggebrecht) Pearce, she married the Rev. Ralph William Kluge on June 24, 1950, in Michigan City. He died April 15, 2002, in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Henry Pearce and Rolland Pearce. Surviving are two sons, Timothy R. (Priscilla) Kluge of Rochester and Mark W. (Elizabeth) Kluge of LaGrange; two daughters, Nancy A. Kluge of Colfax, Wash., and Marsha E. (Robert) Bortolussi of East Peoria; five grandchildren, Elisabeth Kluge and Matthew Kluge, both of Rochester, and Nathan Crewe-Kluge, Julia Crewe-Kluge and Elliott Crewe-Kluge, all of LaGrange; one sister, Darlene Pearce of Bend, Ore.; and three brothers, Fredrick Pearce of Roseville, Calif., Richard (Bee) Pearce of Valparaiso, Ind., and James (Shryl) Pearce of St. George, Utah. A 1947 graduate of Elmhurst College, Bernadine worked as a first and second grade teacher for Creve Coeur School District 76 for 24 years, retiring in 1988. Bernadine also supported her husband in ministry as he served churches in Wisconsin, Kansas and Illinois. She served as a Sunday school teacher and was a choir member for many years. Bernadine formerly volunteered for Habitat for Humanity for nine years and also was a volunteer tutor for Southside Mission in Peoria for several years. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. Gardening was a big part of her life and she most recently attended Parkview United Church of Christ in Peoria. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. The Rev. Stephen W. Barch will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity Greater Peoria Area, 931 N. Krumholz, Bernard  
EUREKA - Bernard "Bernie" Krumholz, 88, of Eureka, Ill., passed away at 11:42 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2015, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on Dec. 14, 1926, in Metamora, Ill., a son of Daniel and Marie Michael Krumholz. He married Joanne Bechtel on June 3, 1950, in Washington, Ill. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Jill (Jim) Harper of Washington, Ill., and Robin (William) Riley of Secor; one son, Tom (Lynn) Krumholz of Eureka, Ill.; three brothers; three sisters; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Bernie founded Krumholz Trucking in 1951, retiring in 2010. He was a member of Midwest Truckers Northern Advisory Board, St. Luke's Men's Club and St. Luke's Catholic Church. Bernie was a die-hard Cubs fan. Bernie was a steward of the land. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. today, March 26, 2015, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Eureka. Father Eugene Radosevich will officiate. Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka. Burial will be in Olio Township Cemetery in Eureka. King, Donald  
EAST PEORIA - Donald L. King, 83, of East Peoria, Ill., passed away at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at his residence. He was born on July 20, 1931, in Goodfield, Ill., to Jayson and Dolly Shanholtzer King. He married Naomi Harper on May 14, 1961, in Huntsville, Ala. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Ronald (Peggy) King of East Peoria, Ill.; two daughters, Karen (Marlin) Coy of Rockford, Ill., and Cindy (David) Read of Eureka, Ill.; one sister, Carol Smith of Wyoming, Ill.; one brother, Roger (Arlene) Washburn of Eureka, Ill.; six grandchildren, Zach, Dahlton, Lexi, Ellie, Renee and Amanda; and four great-grandchildren, Bella, Dominick, Dakota and Devin. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; two brothers; his stepmother, Ruth King; and one niece, Cheryl King. Donald served his country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was in the U.S. Army for 21 years, serving as a chief warrant officer 2. He retired on Aug. 28, 1969. He also worked in the Peoria Post Office for 20 years as a plant manager. He retired in 1992. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka. Pastor Keith Thibo will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. and also one hour before services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Olio Township Cemetery with full military rites at the grave. Memorials may be made to HeartCare Midwest in Peoria.
