Smith, Linnie - Peoria  
Linnie Smith PEORIA - Mr. Linnie Smith, 71, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 12:26 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Linnie was born June 29, 1944, in Raymond, MS, to Katherine Evans. He and the family moved to Peoria at an early age. He married Nancy Moredock. Linnie was a Vietnam veteran, honorably serving the US Army, where he received the Vietnam Service, Expert Rifle and Parachutist medals. Linnie worked for Long John Trucking, retiring after over 25 years. He is survived by two sons, Scott (Theresa) Smith of San Pedro, CA and Chris (Tina) Smith of Peoria; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and one sister. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Simons Mortuary Chapel, with a visitation beginning at 9 a.m. The Rev. Arthur Williams Sr., will officiate. Linnie will be laid to rest at Springdale Cemetery, with military honors. Simons Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.

Stewart, Samuel "Big Daddy" - Peoria  
Samuel "Big Daddy" Stewart PEORIA - The sun rose for Samuel C. "Big Daddy" Stewart, 71, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Peoria, on September 23, 1944, and set on April 27, 2016, at 2:59 p.m., when he passed away at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Sam was born to Earnestine and Claudie Stewart in Charleston, MO. Sam joined the Air Force in 1962 and received an honorable discharge. Sam married Suzanne Powell and later married Gerisa Eppinger. Sam leaves to cherish his memories, his ex-wife and long-time friend, Gerisa Kay Eppinger; four daughters, Teresa Stewart of Kansas, MO, and Crystal Stewart, Teawana (Ted) Johnson and Diane Proctor, all of Peoria, Illinois; two sons, Claude Stewart III of Holland, MI, and Dashon (Keila) Eppinger of Baytown, TX; two sisters, Ella Mae Davis of Peoria and Gloria Stewart of North Carolina; twenty-six grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces nephews, cousins, and family members who adored him and will miss him terribly. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Jean Stewart Davis; and a great-grandson, Ryan McIntosh, both of Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2016, at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria is honored to serve the Stewart family. Memorials are suggested to the family in care of his daughter, Crystal Stewart. Spainhower, Paul - Laguna Hills  
Paul Spainhower PEORIA - Paul James Spainhower, beloved father, Papa, and brother, formerly of Peoria, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Friday, April 29, 2016. He was the only son of seven children born to Paul and Helen, in Peoria, IL, on December 18, 1927. During WWII, he enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17. He was called back into service during the Korean conflict. Returning to Peoria, he graduated from Bradley University. He married Marilyn Schueth in 1952, to whom he was devoted for 61 years, until her passing in April of 2014. Due to his hard work and integrity, he rose to the position of Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Belvedere Products. He was loved by all and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by sisters, Pat Mahrt and Geri Heuermann. He is survived by four sisters, Shirley Coyle, Mary Noel, Nancy Maushard and Peggy Belliston; five children, Kathleen Manning, Mary Everett (Chris), Marty Spainhower, Julie Clark (Chris) and Patrice Bennett (Warren); 9 grandchildren, Nichol, Sean (Kimberly), Stephen, Daniel (Shannon), Ashley, Melanie, Kelli, James and David; and two great-grandsons, Jack and Conor. We love you to the moon and back! There will be a viewing on Friday, May 6, at 10 a.m., followed immediately by Paul's funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., both at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Laguna Woods, CA. Graveside services will take place on Friday, May 6, at 2:30 p.m. at Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest.

Schuster, James - Peoria  
James Schuster PEORIA – James A. Schuster, 77, of Peoria, passed away at 6:46 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born March 21, 1939, in Auburn, Ill., to Carl and Grace (Hanson) Schuster. He married Martha Eadie on Aug. 18, 2007, in Morton. Surviving are his wife, Martha Schuster of Peoria; one daughter, Ellen (Tom) Benson of Metamora; one son, Phillip Schuster of Morton; three step-sons, Phil (Jessica) Olsson of Indianapolis, Ind., Scott (Jackie) Olsson of Lander, Wyo., and Daniel (Chat) Olsson of Manilla, Philippines; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Alex Benson; nine step-grandchildren, Kephas, Felicity, Philomena, Josephina, Elizabetha, Catherina, Hieronymous and Cadence Coe Olsson and Carl Orellano; three sisters, Donna (Leonard) Garbacz of Waterford, Mich., Margaret (Gene) Kaufman of Auburn, Ill., and Lynn (Tom) Hunley of Auburn, Ill.; and one sister-in-law, Joey Schuster of Albuquerque, N.M. He was preceded in death by two brothers. He served for six years in the Army Reserves as a Sharpshooter. Early in his career, James was a high school math teacher in Decatur at Douglas MacArthur High School before joining the Caterpillar CIS Department. He retired from Caterpillar in 1997 after 27 years. James enjoyed his retirement fishing with his son and wood working. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals. James was active in his church participating on the finance committee and Sunday school group. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2016, at Morton United Methodist Church in Morton, with Pastor Gary Motta officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Hirstein Cemetery in Morton. Memorials may be made to the Morton United Methodist Building Fund.
