Wallace, John  
Pekin - John R. Wallace, 79, of Pekin, formerly of Washburn, died at 10:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at Timber Creek Rehab & Health Care Center in Pekin. John was born Feb. 23, 1935, in Washburn, the son of Earle A. and Lois L. Loscher Wallace. He is survived by a sister, Kathleen Eichenberger of Cincinnati, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; and three sisters, Mary L. McCoy, Ruth A. O'Neil and Dorothy M. Dafforn. John was a former member of the Washburn Christian Church. In his younger years, John worked on the family farm with his father in the Washburn area. As an adult, John worked at the Tazewell County Resource Center in Tremont. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at Linn-Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Washburn, with the Rev. Richard Kerr officiating. Webster, Florence - Pekin  
PEKIN - Florence E. "Flo" Webster, 91, of Pekin passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at Pekin Hospital, with her nieces by her side. She was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Peoria, Ill., to Grover A. and Bertha (Kent) Garske. She married Lewis Lee Webster on Oct. 18, 1951. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and her sister. She is survived by her brother, Richard (Judy) Garske of Morton; her nieces, Rhonda (Mike) Morrow of Peoria, Robin (Wayne) Palmer of Bartonville and Lori (Jim) Patterson of Knoxville, Tenn.; and her nephews, Rick (Pam) Garske of Mattoon, Ill., Randy (Nena) Garske of Bartonville and Danny (Lori) Garske of Washington. Flo was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a member and deaconess of Glen Oak Christian Church in Peoria. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Peoria and the Tazewell County Genealogical Society. She was a secretary at Caterpillar Inc., retiring after 42 1/2 years. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at Fondulac Township Cemetery in East Peoria. The Rev. Robert L. DeBolt will officiate. West, Owen  
EUREKA - Owen L. West, 88, of Eureka passed away at 4:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at home. He was born Jan. 18, 1926, in Peoria to Clyde M. and Pamella E. West. He married Nancy L. Hill on Aug. 2, 1952, in Pekin. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Gail Ann (John) Wasson of McKinney, Texas, Janet L. (Steve) Gray of Cary, N.C., and Robert Owen West of Chattanooga, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Lauren (Dustin) Prusik, Kelsey Gray, John Owen Wasson, Jacqueline Wasson and Rachel Wasson; and a brother, Randall (Mary Jane) West of Peoria. Owen graduated from Peoria High School and served in the U.S. Army. He received a bachelor's degree from Illinois Wesleyan University, where he met the love of his life, Nancy L. Hill. He then furthered his education, receiving a Ph.D. in education from West Virginia University. He was formerly director of bands at Gibson City High School and at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Beginning in 1968, Owen served as professor of education at Eureka College and was in charge of the student-teacher program for 23 years. Owen loved music and played trumpet for many events in bands, orchestras and dance bands, including Nancy West and the Colleagues. He played trumpet in the Peoria Municipal Band for over 40 years. He was a member of Phi Mu Alpha and the American Federation of Musicians He was a member of Eureka Christian Church, where he served as elder, deacon and chairman of the board. He will be remembered for his love of music, his passion for teaching and his dedication to leading and serving his family with wisdom, by example and in loving generosity. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at Eureka Christian Church, with the Rev. Jennie Churchman officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in Olio Township Cemetery in Eureka. Whited, John  
WASHINGTON - John R. Whited, 68, of Washington passed away at 2:36 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. John was born on Oct. 16, 1946, in Farmington to Raymond and Frances (Picton) Whited. He married Linda Kent in Peoria on Dec. 19, 1970. Linda passed away in Peoria on Aug. 26, 1999. John later married Deborah Dembinski Sullivan on Oct. 16, 2004. Debby survives. Also surviving are their six children, Cindy (Art) Lehman of Kokomo, Cheryl (Bob) Linsley and Kelly Baldovin, all of Washington, Heather Whited of Elmwood, Shannon Sullivan of Chicago and Sean (Daniella) Sullivan of Orlando; one brother, Allen (Alice) Whited of Decatur; one sister, Jane Anderson of Farmington; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. John had retired from Caterpillar, where he had worked for more than 37 years, and retired as a superintendent in maintenance. John was an avid bowler, playing in various leagues at Plaza Lanes for many years. He had several 300 games and is in the Bowling Hall of Fame. John also enjoyed playing pool and for many years participating in the Brothers Bowling Tournament in Peoria. He also had been a part of the Peoria Area Civic Chorale for a few years. A service to remember and celebrate John's life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. The family will receive friends after 10 a.m. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, donations for John may be directed to either St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or Salvation Army. Womeldorff, Bessie  
MASON CITY - Bessie Lee Womeldorff, 85, of Mason City passed away at the Mason City Nursing Home on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014. She was born Feb. 3, 1929, to Audrey (Mayberry) and Nathan Wadley in Paragould, Ark. She married Russell Evans Sr., who passed Aug. of 1985, and later married Lewis Womeldorff, who also preceded her in death in 1999. Bessie is survived by her children, Patricia (David) Bridgeman of Peoria, Joshua Evans of Mason City, David (Jeanette) Evans of Bath, Rodger Evans of Lincoln, Russell Evans of Mason City, and James Evans of Lincoln; 28 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elizabeth Smith; son Ronnie Evans; two stepsons, James and Robbie Womeldorff; and one granddaughter. She was retired from the Lincoln Development Center. Bessie was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Bessie enjoyed embroidering, cross-stitching, crossword puzzles, word searches, cooking, fishing, and spending time with her family and her beloved dog, "Lady." Funeral services for Bessie will be on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at noon at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City with visitation two hours prior, from 10 a.m. to noon. Burial will be at the Mason City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mason City Nursing Home or to Hospice Compassus. Wunder, John  
MORTON - John W. "Bill" Wunder, 86, of Naples, Fla., formerly of Morton, Ill., passed away Nov. 22, 2014. Born in Lacon, Ill., to the late John H. and Gertrude (nee Merdian) Wunder, he had been a resident of Naples, Fla., for the past 18 years, having moved from Morton. John was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during WWII and in the Army of occupation of Japan. Prior to moving to Naples, John had worked in Morton as a brick mason for 30 years, was the owner of Felz-Own, Inc. and Felz-Own Pet Shop in Morton, and was a proud member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton. John is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Joyce (nee Cruikshank); his children, Connie (David) Sinn, Pam (Roger) Reaktenwalt, and Michael (Debbie Leon) Wunder; grandchildren Natalie, Rachel, Julia, David J.E., Michelle, Doug, and Autumn; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers, Robert, Bernard, and Wayne. He was known and loved for his sense of humor, which he kept until his last day. Bill was devoted to his wife, Joyce, who has been in a nursing home for the past five years, and he especially enjoyed visits from his children and grandchildren. Bill and his family are especially grateful for the loving and compassionate care he received from the staff at Manor Care and the nursing staff at the Naples Hospital.
