Farris, Marie - Peoria  
PEORIA - Marie T. Farris, 81, of Peoria passed away at 7:23 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Emergency Room. Marie was born March 23, 1933, to the late Charles and Anna (Alwan) Farris. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Anthony; one sister, Esther; and one brother-in-law, Stephen Abraham II. Surviving are one brother, Maurice (Patricia) Farris of Morton, Ill.; one sister, Laurice Abraham of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Farris of Peoria; four nephews, Stephen Abraham III, John Abraham, Christopher Farris and Shane Dixon; and four nieces, Debbie Farris, Tina Wilson, Jeanine Messer and Linda Raine. Also surviving are several great-nephews and nieces. Marie was a graduate of St. Patrick's School in Peoria and was a member of Academy of Our Lady's class of 1951. She worked for 13 years at Couri's Food Town, at a family grocery store and for the Peoria Election Commission. Marie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Peoria since 1976, serving as a Eucharistic minister. She was also a member of the Itoo Society, Altar Rosary Society and the Catholic Women's League. Marie had no children of her own but considered her nephews and nieces as her children. She took care of her mother for many years and then devoted her life to helping others. As a Eucharistic minister, she took Communion to shut-ins and to residents at nursing homes. She also helped prepare and deliver food baskets during the Christmas season. Marie never met a stranger and always had a smile and word of encouragement for all she met. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Franciscan Fathers will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is handling the arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fehl, Patrick - Peoria  
BARTONVILLE - Patrick "Slim" Fehl, age 50, of Bartonville passed away at 8:10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Canton. He was born June 30, 1964, in Peoria to Paul and Jean (Berry) Fehl Jr. He married Cindy McSimov Fisher on June 1, 2003, in Henry. She passed away Nov. 10, 2008, in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his mother of Bartonville; two sisters, Karen Sheilds of Chicago and Paula (Ken) Weinacht of Montana; two brothers, Kevin Fehl of Peoria and Mike (Laura) Fehl of Bartonville; two aunts, Louise Fehl of Peoria and Maggie (Don) Cunningham of Tulsa, Okla.; one uncle, Walt (Loretta) Fehl of West Peoria; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pat graduated from Manual High School and while there, played football and youth hockey. He was the goalie for the Peoria youth hockey state championship team. He was a union carpenter in the Peoria area for 25 years, working out of Local 237. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be today, March 3, 2015, at 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Fr. Terry Cassidy will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to the services. Foley III, Matthew  
MORTON - Matthew James "Mike" Foley III, 86, of Battlement Mesa, Colo., formerly of Morton, Ill., passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015. Mike was born in Hinsdale, Ill., the son of Matthew James Foley II and Katherine Fennessey Foley. Mike is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean J. Foley; sons, Joseph (Darla) Foley of Medford, Ore., and Donald (Lynae) Foley of Littleton, Colo.; daughter, Sally (Dean) Bowlby of Silt, Colo.; grandchildren, Erinn Robinette, Lauren Foley-Kelley, Holland Foley, Kelley Hemminger, Johnathan Hemminger, Brent Foley, Megan Foley, Chase Bowlby, Kaylee Bowlby-DeStefeno and Andrew Bowlby; and two great-granddaughters, Aife DeStefeno and GiGi Kelley. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and sister, JoAnne Ingram. Mike served in the Army Chemical Corps and held a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University and a Masters in Business Administration from Indiana University. He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Inc. in 1994, having served as field research engineer director of service engineering and service engineer for ReMan Products. After his retirement, Mike sponsored Junior Achievement, taught GED classes and was a volunteer with the Peoria Chapter American Red Cross and Habitat For Humanity. Visitation will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church in Morton, Ill., on March 7 from 10:30 to 11 a.m., with a memorial Mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Sr. Cor Marie, SSND, Director Tazewell County, The Children's Center, 210 N. PEORIA - Gary "Butch" Frailey, 73, of Peoria passed away at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, at his home. He was born in Peoria on April 19, 1941, to Roy and Vergie (Lowe) Frailey. He married Judy Pittman on Dec. 1, 1961, in Alabama. She survives. Also surviving are three children, Kim (Stephen) Roettges of East Peoria, Jeff Frailey of Pekin and Lisa (Joey) Wright of Mapleton; four grandchildren, Lorin, Cameron, Kiana and Jordan; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Sharon Bergren of Arizona. His parents, one brother and a sister preceded him in death. Butch served four years in the United States Air Force. He retired from Caterpillar as a maintenance supervisor after 30 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley and tinkering in his shop. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at Endsley-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Bartonville, where visitation will be held one hour before. Fritz, Maxine  
CAMERON - M. Maxine Rendleman Fritz, 93, of Cameron, formerly of Galesburg, passed away early in the morning of Sunday, March 1, 2015. Maxine was born on Bald Knob, near Alto Pass, Union County, Ill., on July 14, 1921, the daughter of Henry and Zora Logan Rendleman. She married Edward Fritz on Aug. 22, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1996. She leaves behind two children, Randy Fritz (wife, Janet Collopy) of Williamsfield and Christine Fritz Youngquist (husband, Steve) of Cameron; and four grandchildren, Andrew Fritz of Williamsfield, Zack (wife, Jaclyn) Youngquist of Monmouth, Hannah Youngquist (fiance, Ben Dingman) of Davenport, Iowa, and Carissa Youngquist of Cameron. She is also survived by three sisters, Ollie Walker of Fairview Heights, Ill., Betty Singer of Mount Prospect, formerly of Peoria, and Jean Rudolph of Peoria. Two sisters and a brother passed away before her. She was a resident of Cameron. She lived most of her life in Galesburg. Maxine moved to the Galesburg area as a nanny before World War II and became a hairdresser until her marriage. After her children were grown, she worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad until her retirement in 1981. She moved to her Cameron home with her daughter and family in 1999. She lived there for the remainder of her life. Maxine's passions included playing bridge, where she remained active in several groups. She also enjoyed duplicate bridge, water color painting, sewing and quilting and reading. Her greatest love was her family, all of whom miss her greatly. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, followed immediately by a celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donors' choice, the Central Warren Fire Protection District-First Responders (CWFPD), the Williamsfield Public Library or the Galesburg Public Library.
